Anyone know what the difference is between Orlan space glove number: ГП-10КС-РАЗМЕР 2 and for example, ГП-10К-2-0220081?

Here is what I remember. Regarding the glove marked "ГП-10КС-РАЗМЕР 2", the cyrillic letters "ГП" indicates it is a spacesuit glove. The glove is a model (or type) 10KC. The word "РАЗМЕР" is "size" in Russian so the glove is a size 2. The other glove, "ГП-10К-2-0220081" is pretty much the same thing except the glove is a model or type 10K. (I'm not sure what the physical differences between the 10K and 10KC models are. Over the years I have photographesd a lot of labels but never took the time to decipher everyting.) The next number "-2" indicates the size and the following number is (I believe) the serial number, and may include the manufacturer date. Are there any specific date stampings on the glove? Not a completely definitive answer, but I hope this helps. |

I may be wrong but I think the gloves were molded to the hand of each cosmonaut. They didn't have a size. |

Actually they have sizes. It ranges from 1 to 3. There's another number inside, on the metal ring N20740752 ПРАВСЕ. I managed to find similar numbered gloves on the internet (YouTube, 4:00), they are a part of Orlan-M suit. This is the only video/picture of similar numbered gloves. |

I'm thinking about putting together a little database of known Orlan gloves to decipher the model sequence. For instance, mine is a 2K, and has orange palm grip and green finger tips. I have seen another 10K, with green and green, etc. |

That's a very good idea James. If you need any help just let me know. I've contacted Zvezda about those numbers, this is what they told me: Thank you for your interest to our space equipment. This is to inform you that markings on the Orlan spacesuit pressure gloves contain private information. So no progress here. |

Started my little database with the one I have, plus examples from ISS EVA photos and previous auctions (from Google). I will e-mail it to you on Monday. |

I greatly appreciate that James. Right now I'm trying to contact Russian space museums and ask them about those numbers. Keep your fingers crossed. |

Thanks to MaeIR, the list I started has been well fleshed out.Basically, we listed details about the gloves we own, plus the details of Orlan gloves that can be found on the internet. This gives a way to correlate model numbers and serial numbers and approximate age. If anyone is interested in seeing the list e-mail me. If you would like your glove included send me the details. We have 38 gloves on the list so far. Table headings are: - Model
- Size
- Serial
- Hand (L or R)
- Tip grip colour
- Palm grip colour
- Condition
- Age
- Possible use
- Source
- Notes

I found this glove on the net, it looks like it's on display at JSC?Does anyone know if it's still there, and if so, can the serial number be read? |

I'm UK based so I emailed them. No reply in a few weeks. If it's still on display and anyone is visiting, I'd appreciate anyone who could scribble down the serial number... |
