I'm trying to identify the provenance of an Apollo 8 flown "Agreement on the Rescue of Astronauts."

I am assuming that the treaty was flown. The treaty is roughly 5.5 by 3 inches and appears to be on very fine parchment. Does anyone recognise it or have any details of such treaties being flown?

Copies of flown treaties like this, printed on parchment paper and reduced in size, were possible to obtain from a New York City firm throughout the 1970s.

There are at least three to five different types of space treaties produced. Most were available as souvenir editions, not flown and unsigned, while others were autographed by many different Apollo astronauts. In addition, others were signed by a complete crew.

Others were indeed flown on earlier Apollo missions and all were of the same printed format.

As far as I know, while I have many in my own collection, they were never identified in any special "printed" way as being flown. Usually there would be a brief notation from an astronaut, "Flown to the moon aboard Apollo 15..." and signed by him.

Are there any figures known how many of the 5.5" x 3.25" copies of the "Treaty on Principles Governing the Activities of States in the Exploration and Use of Outer Space, including the Moon and Other Celestial Bodies" printed on parchment paper do exist?

Especially Apollo 11?

I had to check my notes from my talks with astronauts about PPK contents over the years. I had a flown Space treaty that I bought from Al Bean. I talked with him about the treaties and said that he carried 3 small and 3 large sized space treaties. I got into a conversation with Buzz in 2009 in San Diego and he said that amongst other items, he took 12 copies of the space treaty for each crew member. I did not ask him about the size. I did talk to Jim, Edgar, Al, Charlie, and Gene and they either didn't carry any or didn't remember. Those are my notes, so there could still be questions from the other flights. At this point that would make 42 space treaties that flew to the Moon.

This thread mentions two different documents: the "Agreement on the Rescue of Astronauts", and the "Treaty on Principles [...]".

Larry, you mentioned that Buzz carried a dozen treaties for each crew member, so I assume you're referring to the latter. But do you happen to know if they carried any Rescue Agreements as well? Last year, I bought one of the Apollo 11 rescue agreements from the Armstrong Family Collection, printed on very thin parchment paper. It was produced in 1967 by S. M. Kessler - the same year/publisher as the flown treaties. The card I won wasn't listed as being flown, and I got it for under $500. So it almost certainly wasn't flown. But hearing about how many treaties were flown, it makes me wonder if there's the slightest chance that my card was flown, and Neil just never certified it as such because he never intended for it to be sold. There's probably no way to know for certain, so it's not really important. And I imagine that he kept all of his flown material documented somehow, so they didn't get mixed up. But seeing this thread has made me curious.
