I don't know about this... there seems to be a large collection -- albeit anecdotal --evidence which would stand to differ.

quote:
The appearance on sale of strong drinks in "space packaging" does not imply that they will be "delivered to orbiting stations," spokesman for Rosaviakosmos (Russian Aerospace Agency) Sergei Gorbunov told Itar-Tass on Monday.

He was referring to the presentation of a Stolichnaya vodka bottle and a Ryabinovaya nastoyka (liqueur) bottle as souvenirs in "space packaging" to the Russian President Vladimir Putin on Cosmonauts Day. "

Gorbunov said, "the appearance of those products does not mean that they will be delivered to the near-earth orbit. The traditional abstinence from alcohol in space remains in place, and no one is going to change the situation. "

"As regards rumors alleging that cognac is good in space and how it can be taken there, I cannot either confirm or reject them," said the Rosaviakosmos press secretary.

"True, the containers of the space Stoli and Ryabinovaya are the same as those used to take liquids to the orbit," said he.

Asked where souvenirs of that sort could be bought, the Rosaviakosmos press secretary said, "at present such souvenirs can only be got as a gift, but thoughts exist about an increase in their production, and then they will probably appear on shop shelves for everyone to buy. "
