Given the launch of the Apollo 50th anniversary coins today, I thought a little space coin trivia would be interesting. On the U.S. Mint website it mentions about the Maryland and Florida state quarters on New Horizons. Not mentioned on the website is that there is also a 1909 VDB Lincoln cent on the Curiosity.

I was wondering, does anyone know of any Soviet/Russian, European, Japanese, Chinese or Indian coins that were ever launched into space?

For another USA coin:

In 2009, NASA presented space-flown Louis Braille Bicentennial silver dollars to the National Federation of the Blind. The coins were flown aboard the shuttle Atlantis' Hubble servicing mission in May of 2009, and were the first coins to feature tactile Braille.

All times are CT (US)
