Pretty cool looking... also currently on eBay.From the Merrick Mint: Apollo 11 50th Anniversary CommemorativeThis is a privately minted proof-like prototype of the Apollo 11 space-flown Robbins medallion commemorating the 50th anniversary of the historic Apollo 11 moon fanding. On July 20, 1969, America and the world watched as United Stated Astronauts took mankind's first steps on the lunar surface. In recognition of the 50th anniversary of the first manned landing on the moon, each medallion has been meticulously sculpted with the original concept Apollo 11 mission insignia, surnames of the flight crew, and mission dates that the Apollo 11 launched, landed, and returned. Each commemorative medallion is a full 1 ounce and either clad in black ruthenium with genuine 24 karat gold highlights or 24 karat gold. Size is 1.50" (39 mm).

Thanks for posting Tim! I've been finding other mints, both private and public (government) that have produced 50th anniversary coins. That said, this Merrick Mint medal's description is a bit confusing. It's been advertised as prototype of the space flown Robbins medal within the description, but in title and other listings its flown status can be questioned. Does it in fact contain space flown material? I would think not. |

"Space flown" here is being used a description of the original Robbins Company-minted medallions, not The Merrick Mint's new commemoratives. |

Robert is correct, these contain no space flown metals. |

The advertisement for these coins states that they are a "Commemorative Limited Edition." I did not see in the descriptions of the coins what the definition of "limited" is. Does anyone know how many of these coins will be produced? |

I figured that they were referring to the Robbins medals of the flights, but someone unsuspecting might think otherwise given the "similarities" to the other, authorized reproductions for the 50th anniversary. I guess that was my intent, but it may have been confusing. |
