Can someone tell me more about the Saturn V Launch Tower MFA medallion? Specifically the year of issue and the source of the launch tower metal. Thanks!

Also, do they fit in the Air-Tite x38mm holder?

I believe these are not Manned/Spaceflight Awareness medals (were not issued by that specific office just by NASA in general) and I believe it to be 38mm.

Thank you!

Any idea on the specific launch tower or is it like the Apollo 40th where they're as vague as possible and not talking?

I believe the medals were produced using a small amount of metal from Launch Umbilical Tower-1 (LUT-1), which was still sitting out in the "boneyard" at Kennedy Space Center in 1999 (it has since been all discarded, with the exception of the section restored and preserved in the Apollo/Saturn V Center and gantry arm displayed in the Rocket Garden at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex).

Thanks, Robert. I think I'll definitely pursue getting one.

What's a good price to pay for an Aluminum one?

They don't seem to show up on the open market as often as some of the other pieces, so I'm really not sure how high I should be willing to go to pick one up.

All times are CT (US)
