While unpacking a forgotten box this morning I came across some silver and bronze medals (some with German text). I am wondering if anybody knows anything about the following seven medals:
I am especially interested in knowing about the bronze medal and was wondering if that one contains flown material (it has the following mark just before "Armstrong": FM). If so, I was wondering what kind of flown material it contains? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much. |

I do not know of this medal in particular but doubt it contains any flown metal. |

Foreign mints would have had no opportunity to obtain flown material to create medals contemporary to the Apollo missions. |

tnperri, thank you so much for your reply and input.Robert, this makes perfect sense. In that case, the FM probably stands for the German or Swiss mint mark. Thank you so much Robert, much appreciated. |

Medals 1, 2, 4, 5 and 6 were issued in Switzerland.Medal 3 was/is a cheap souvenir medal and does not contain any flown metal. The "FM" mintmark appears often on German medals but I do not know which mint did these. Medal 7 is part of a 7-piece set (Apollo 11-17). That medal was issued in two versions - 15g silver and 50g silver. And there are also 3 gold versions... |
