Cleaned for service in June 1971, these bottles may have been used to transport lunar samples from the Apollo 11, 12 or 14 moon landings.
These five 30cc (cubic centimeter) plastic containers were prepared and packaged for use in NASA's Lunar Receiving Laboratory in Houston, Texas. Their size permitted for the division of primary samples within vacuum cabinets, while their large, high threads could hold a seal in an emergency.
