If you want to see new pictures of space history, look at my blog. I make novel images from vintage movies.
Privileged witnesses of the conquest of space, the cameras were present from the beginning of the adventure, as the American side that the Russian side. Films with a more or less good. The advance of computing, word processing and assembly of view makes possible a new vision for this venture. This method I called Archéovidéo to retrieve new images from the past.

A new "restored" picture of Buzz Aldrin's face during first EVA on the Moon.

I worked one year for this picture, and I used a large number of image processing software. This image is the resulting output from the addition of thirty-three images of the original NASA film restored in 2009.

What do you think?

I have always felt that I was seeing faces in the helmets of Apollo 11 but they are fleeting and obscure at best. Perhaps I was correct after all...

Thank you for the images Nyos!

My process uses only images from video and/or 16mm camera. And my first objective is to revisit space history through video archives. My views are assembled by individual frames of video (very slightly modified), the goal is to obtain an "original image" ever seen.

Nice work. There are lots of new images to be had from the TV and 16mm footage. I have had a go at this myself and I have the same post TLI, pre-docking image from Apollo 11. The thing that the image from the film has over the photo composite is acuracy. What you see in the film composite is what you would have seen in real life, I don't know if the photo composite depicts the view of the scene as it really happened.

I've looked at the Apollo 11 tv and 16mm footage and I can't find that view. In the footage the earth appears in the top right hand corner and then pans down and to the left before the LM comes into view. How did you put together the clip shown above?

This is really neat. The middle photos truly looks like a Challenger-type explosion. And I like the last one. So much power needed to lift so little mass. Superb job.

Lunar rover camera after departure of the Apollo 17 LM.

After liftoff of Lunar module "Challenger" (14 December 1972) the color television camera mounted on the front of the Lunar Rover could be remotely operated by Mission Control. This allowed far better television coverage of the EVA than the earlier missions.

Extracted and constructed with individual pictures of TV camera.
