An interesting book I came across recently in the Science Museum, London. Its title is "Genius: Great Inventors and Their Creations" (ISBN 978-1-78097-365-4) published by Carlton Books. It contains 28 potted biographies (about two pages per person, only half of which is text, the remainder is good illustration). The real interest is in the facsimile documents for ten of the group. These include a facsimile of Wernher von Braun's 1964 design for how a space station could be carried in a Saturn V rocket, a 1903 letter from Wilbur Wright describing some of his work and pages from Faraday's lab notebook 1821 describing his electric motor. | |
