The August 2017 issue of National Geographic magazine is "The Space Issue" ("Shoot the Moon. Again."), is online now and in print on newsstands on Tuesday (July 25).
An Impending Deadline For A Big Reward: Commercializing space travel might be the next frontier. We cover the Google Lunar XPrize which will award $20 million to one of five finalist teams from around the world.

Timely, Comprehensive Content: National Geographic's feature cover story and supplementary space content are aligned with two key upcoming dates: the anniversary of the Apollo 11 landing on July 20, and the solar eclipse on August 21. Contents include:

  • The Next Moon Landing Is Near — Thanks to These Pioneering Engineers
  • Infographic: The race to the moon is revving up again — and this time the competitors are private
  • New Moon Race Endangers Historic Space Artifacts
  • Exclusive: Here's What It's Like to Spend a Year in Space (excerpt from "Endurance" by Scott Kelly)

All times are CT (US)
