Yesterday morning I was out for a walk, listening to my favorite "blues" station when I heard this bizarre song: Happy Blues for John Glenn. It was written and sung by Lightnin' Hopkins, a well known blues musician. Apparently he listened to Glenn's mission on the radio and was so overcome with emotion he created the song.

Love it, Joel, just love it! We had a chapter that didn't make it into the final cut of Marketing the Moon, looking at "moon music" and all the inspired songs from the program until that date -- even up to Duke Ellington's "Moon Maiden", sung live on TV for ABC on the night of the moon landing. There really is so much great music -- and this one has now rocketed up the charts to be one of my favorites. Thanks for sharing!

I'm glad you enjoyed it Rich!
I had never heard the song before and I was trying to make sense of the lyrics, which I never quite did. But it was pretty cool.
