Smithsonian Channel's four-part Space Voyages series starts Monday, Dec. 23 and airs on three consecutive Mondays. It surveys the past, present and future of manned and unmanned spaceflight. Included are interviews with Jim Lovell, Gene Kranz, Chris Kraft, Jay Barbree and others. The episodes and viewing dates (airing at 8 pm, with a repeat at 11 pm; all ET/PT) are: - 12/23: Into the Unknown- Focuses on the robotic explorers sent to Mars, Jupiter and beyond to pave the way for human exploration.
- 12/30: The Moon and Beyond- Reviews the pioneering voyages of Apollo and the future plans to return to the Moon and explore Mars and asteroids.
- 1/06: Open for Business- Commercial rocket and human spaceflight companies have opened a new era in space travel.
- 1/13: Surviving the Void- In 50 years of manned spaceflight, men and women have learned to live and work in space. Now those lessons must be applied to future missions to Mars.
