At the National Air and Space Museum in DC there is a very nice poster on display named the Goss Mission Profile Apollo Manned Lunar Landing that show all the steps from blastoff to splashdown. It is NASA publication NAS 1.43:AP4. I would like to know if anyone has any idea on how to purchase or download a copy of this poster? |

The Goss Mission Profile can be downloaded directly from the National Air and Space Museum's website here. There is a link near the bottom of the page where you can download a high resolution image. Very nice chart, by the way. |

I volunteer at the Air and Space. If you come to the museum, look in the gallery very carefully, if not you will walk right by the poster.

When I saw that Bonham's sold a signed copy of this poster for over $25,000 in October 2009, I was flabbergasted. I had this poster on my wall when I was growing up in the late 1960s. I thought, "I still have this - somewhere!"I took down the poster in 1974 when I went off to college. It resided, rolled up in a tube, probably in a box somewhere, amongst the stuff that I have been carrying around with me for decades. After some frantic digging, I found the tube and the poster was still in pretty good shape! I took it to the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation's Astronaut Autograph Show in November and had it signed by at least one crew member from every Apollo mission except Skylab 2. I also had it signed by Gerry Griffin, Guenter Wendt, and Dee O'Hara. I briefly considered sending it to Novaspace for the John Young and Mike Collins signings next year, but then thought that I would just be putting it out of my sight again! And how long would I keep doing that — finding yet another person to send it to for signature? I think that sometimes it HAS to be okay to say, "You know, it's good enough!" I had the poster framed, and I put it up on my office wall. It's nice to have it back in my life again! |

The reprint of the GOSS poster is only 36"x12". What size was the original? |

I received mine from The Space Store. I know these are not Space Store-produced, but the quality leaves something to be desired. The resolution is fine, given the sale-down, but the paper quality is poor. They are printed on a rough-surface paper covered in what looks like black poster paint as background and it is easily marked. For the money they should really have been printed on high quality glossy paper or laminated in some way. |
