On behalf of Ed Hengeveld and myself, I'm pleased to announce "The Space Art of Ed Hengeveld" is now available from the Apple iTunes store at the price of $4.99.

Featuring nearly 70 paintings by Ed this book is a visual treat. High resolution scans have optimized the images for high resolution displays. Note the version available from iTunes is for iPad only (see below for PDF).

Click here to purchase the book or download a free sample.

Please contact me directly if you'd prefer a PDF version — this is a large Dropbox download and costs the same as the iOS version ($4.99). The PDF is secured by a password and we'd appreciate it if you didn't share this with others.

Book cover:

Ed Book Cover Mockup 400px

Listing on iTunes:

I purchased and downloaded the PDF from Gary this morning. Fantastic collection, with a number of works I hadn't seen before. Highly recommended.

Also, I'd like to second Gary's request not to "share" the file or password. $4.99 isn't going to break anyone's bank, folks. If you know others who might enjoy Ed's work, encourage them to purchase a copy for themselves, or buy another to gift them. Such "practical" support is the least we can do to thank Ed for sharing his talent and love of his subjects with us.

Ed, any chance this book will be published in a hardback or soft cover book?

I will investigate costs for printing physical copies. You could print out the PDF version. Both versions were output at above-print resolution.

I printed out the book on a high-quality Konica-Minolta color digital copier this morning. Print quality of the PDF images is outstanding.

Thank you Gary for taking the initiative. It's great value for money with lots of pictures. I have always had an 'Ed' as my computer wallpaper. Now I have a wonderful choice to alternate with the images I have previously downloaded. I only ever (respectfully) kept copies of images I purchased from Ed.

I recommend this as a must to all cS members.
Great job Gary.

I bought the book a few days ago and it's fantastic. The imagery is great and is a perfect mix of "space" and "art". Nice job Gary and Ed.

Thanks to all for the response so far. Several people contacted me for PDF versions but never followed through after I sent instructions. I'm thinking my replies may be getting caught in spam or junk mailboxes - if you have not received a reply from me please check yours.

To purchase a PDF version send $4.99 to gary (at) atlantapixel (dot) com using PayPal. When I get notice of your payment I'll send you a link to download and a password to open the document. Thanks again.

Picture perfect PDF pixels have just been downloaded and the compilation is amazing!

It is hard to pick a favorite, but the Apollo lunar surface series is striking. I also like the view of Ed White and Gemini IV called Red, White, and Blue All Over. I recall reading (perhaps on cS) that Ed tried to get a good photo of the spacecraft, but he couldn't manage to get into position.

Nice work, Ed and Gary. Glad to support a fellow space artist.

A hardcover book containing ALL my work is being produced at this time, but it will probably be a few months before it is completed. In principle I am making one for myself, but I'll see if the result is good enough to sell to others.

Now that's what I'm talking about Ed, count me in for a "real" book! Looking forward to it.

Signed (and numbered) copies would be a great idea.

Thanks for all the ideas but please remember all the work and people involved in creating a printed version. The hardcover itself is more expensive than all the software and time needed for the entire eBook. And of course a new version requires its own ISBN, meaning another $125.

Therefore printed versions will likely be priced above $50. The eBook is under $5. As we've only sold a handful of the eBooks so far, the investment in a paper version is difficult to justify from my perspective.

The way to go is pre-paid... those who know Ed Hengeveld and have the first book, are pretty sure the second book will be another collector's item. No rush, the longer we wait, more paintings can go into the book. Anyway a great Christmas gift.
