Has anyone heard more about the contents of the first Spacecraft Films DVD to be released in 2008: The Cape - History of the Florida Launch Facilities?

I presume there'll be a launch view of each kind of launch vehicle, including the recent Delta Heavy, etc..

The set is in production now and will be quite comprehensive. We still have some things we wish to include on the set that we are acquiring, but believe we will be able to cover every type launched from the Cape.

One piece of advice for this set...wherever you have footage that has natural sound (especially launches), plus added commentary, please put the commentary on a separate audio track so it can be turned on and off.

I'm greatly looking forward to this set...

Count me and several others as buyers for the Cape.

Is there any chance there will be footage of the area around the Cape (Cocoa Beach, hotels on the strip, etc)?

I'd like to see footage of the facilities being constructed. And I'm hoping there will eventually be a high definition version of the footage available for additional cost.

There will be extensive footage of construction, as well as current footage of the Cape areas. We are also trying to assemble as much material as possible (most of this seems to be photos) of areas surrounding the Cape. I am not yet sure how extensive this is going to turn out.

We are making some transfers of material in HD, but I don't yet know what form an HD product will take. We are in the midst of a transition to HD products, and this one is bridging the transition.

I hope to see some close up slow motion TV images shot by camera on the launch towers. These images show the umbilicals falling away, ice falling off the rocket, etc..

Also hope to see the 1998 Titan IV explosion on the DVD.

I am curious if there has been any change in status regarding the production of the Cape DVD set.

Per Mark on his blog there is an "imminent release" coming up for this set.

Hope to see "The Cape" at some point in the near future. I'm pretty sure I ordered these sets in 2007 and have been watching the release dates slide forward for years (current is December 2011?).

Like all of you I believe in patience to get as much in the set that Mark can find, but I think we need to draw the line somewhere.

Did anyone already receive the DVD set "The Cape" from Spacecraft Films? The website states "Pre-order - Release imminent mid-2012." Mid-2012 passed already, but the status did not change to available or on-stock or similar. Nevertheless, the set has already 18 rating of average 3.5 stars out of five.

How can the set be rated if it is still not released? I pre-ordered the set in July 2007 and I am waiting for it.

I also ordered in 2007 and haven't received mine either. Mark stated in his August 8, 2012 blog posting that he expected to start shipping them out the week of August 13. The Apollo 11 sets were also said to start shipping at roughly the same time, but I haven't read of anyone receiving them yet in this discussion.

I was re-reading the posts in this thread and Mark Gray had stated at one time that the set would include recent footage of the cape area. Since that was in 2008 it is no longer recent and the set is not out yet. He may have to go back to get actual recent footage.

I recently ordered a copy of the Apollo 12 set directly from Spacecraft Films and received it about two weeks later.

Sadly, the status of the Cape set has been changed to "Pre-order - Release Soon." I was really hoping this would come out on time. I'm itching for a Spacecraft Films fix...

Has anybody received "The Cape" set from Spacecraft Films?

I originally ordered this way back in 2008. At that time the "blog" and the product page said it was going to be shipping soon. I got a email from Mark Grey a couple of months ago, and it said it will be shipping soon. As the years pass, my hopes of ever getting this set grows dim.

I own many Spacecraft Films DVDs. I have the Mercury, Gemini, X-15, Saturn 5, Apollo 11, Apollo 12, Apollo 14, Apollo 15, Apollo 16, Apollo 17 and a few others. They are all great. I want to order more, but I will not until I receive "The Cape" set. I have been waiting 5 years.

You may want to read this other thread concerning another of Spacecraft Films' pending releases.

Visit YouTube and look up a video on NASA and the Apollo Program entitled "The Big Challenge." This video is a classic NASA documentary in regards to the development of the VAB and Launch Complex 39 at the Kennedy Space Center.

Check it out!

I just received an e-mail from Spacecraft Films earlier today that they cancelled my September 2007 pre-order for The Cape DVD set. The cancellation came without explanation and (so far) without a Paypal refund.

The question is, does this cancellation indicate that The Cape set is no longer intended to be released? There is no word on the SF blog and the set is still listed as "Pre-Order - Release Soon" on their website.

Has anyone else had their pre-order recently cancelled?

Hoping it has not been cancelled, I think this set contained some unique footage to backup this amazing engineering story.

I just checked my email and found that I have a pre-order pending on The Cape set from about four years ago. The order was placed and paid for on 5/6/2009.

So far I have not received any notice of a cancellation of this pending order. I too have been looking forward to this set. I hope that it is still in production.

Spacecraft Films should offer an interest rate since you've deposited an amount for four years... or give something extra for your patience.
