Over the years there have been many terrific limited edition prints; "Naval Aviation in Space", "Apollo: Navy to the Moon", Al Bean's "In the Beginning". More recently "Moonwalkers" and "The Eagles Last Flight" Which is your favorite? I'll admit, my favorite continues to be "In the Beginning." Not only is it a beautiful piece of art by Alan Bean, but the signatures are from some of the most important space explorers in man's history. Many people talk about these type of prints as "an investment" (which I don't, I collect because I am a fan!). If you're looking for a good investment, this has to qualify as one of the best! What's your favorite print? What limited edition print will be the most significant 100 years from now? |

Definitely one of Alan Bean's paintings, probably "In The Beginning," though from a symbolic point of view I would prefer "The Fantasy" because it shows, that all three would have deserved to walk on the moon!If you know Dick Gordon, you know that no one else would have deserved it more. |

I would have to say that my favorite piece would be Alan Bean's "In The Beginning." To date, this is the only print that has moved me to the point of purchase. I must look at it at least two or three times each day.As for art, I very much like Alan Bean's The Hammer and the Feather. |

I will continue the Al Bean reviews for top art work. "Straightening Our Stripes" finishes just ahead of "Homeward Bound" as my favorite pieces of artwork. Both are simply outstanding. The importance of the events they represent probably add to both pieces and move them ahead of Norman Rockwell's painting of John Young and Gus Grissom, which I would place in third. Now, there are a few Paul Calle efforts that I have seen in books that I would love to get a hold of. |

"Homeward Bound," is my favorite too. Love the image, and the colors are great too. |

My favorite is the one that I will get sometime in the distant future when I can afford one of Alan Bean's prints! |

Just got back my "Kissing the Earth" print from the frame shop. It turned out great. I had them incorporate a mission patch in the bottom of the matting and it looks fantastic. I find myself drawn to it several times a day. It is awe-inspiring to think that someone had a view such as this. It gives me the chills. So, for now this is my favorite piece. But "The Hammer and the Feather" is one that I may be getting in the near future, also. |

As far as artwork goes, I love Alan Bean's "Too Beautiful to Have Happened by Accident" Anyone else like that one a lot?

I second Alan Bean's "That's How It Felt To Walk On The Moon." I had the print framed and it hangs in my study. |

Art being art, my favorites change around often.Lately I have been enamored by Paul Calle's two works, "Power," and "Power To Go." I like the dark colors and gantry detail of, "Power," and yet I love the sheer explosive energy portrayed by, "Power to Go." If I had to pick, I would lean towards, "Power To Go." I don’t own either of them, but I like them just the same. At home I have “Lindbergh Arrives Over Paris,” above the fireplace. I like that nostalgia that it portrays. Bean’s, “Homeward Bound,” and “Hammer and the Feather,” are also tops in my book. Funny, I just realized that this thread is very old and I had posted 10 years ago that I liked, "Homeward Bound." I guess I am consistant, and old! |

"Apollo 8 Coming Home" by Robert McCall just pips "Homeward Bound "as my favourite. I've only ever seen one print of the original - and I have that! Anyone know the history of the print run?

My wife just got me the 22x28 print of Mark Karvon's "Space Shuttle Endeavour" and it looks beautiful up on the wall. |

I nearly reposted here as well, before noting my prior post -- and Homeward Bound would still lead. Rather than viewing myself consistent and old, I would hope it would reflect a continuing appreciation of a fine work of art. |

I am partial to Alan Bean's "The Fantasy". I find the image itself to be amazing, but the deeper meaning behind it is also quite special. |

There are so many. Here are a few but so many more. - Paul Calle sketch of 'Neil Armstrong'
- Alan Bean "That's How it Felt to Walk on the Moon"
- Ron Woods 'Captain Cernan"
- Atilla Hejja "Cape Winds"
- Kim Poor "Attitude Hold"
...but as I said so many more its hard to narrow them down. |
