I heard from Walt Cunningham today. He's about to close a deal that will make "All American Boys" available as a downloadable audio book. I'm curious to see how all of this works out. I will keep you posted on a potential release date and price. "All American Boys" has always been a favorite and it will be nice to have it in a new format. Walt seems quite excited about this new technology for the book. |

Good to hear (no pun intended)... All American Boys is fantastic and any format that makes it more accessible to more people is good news indeed. Can we infer that Walt himself will be recording it? |

Walt's read of this (great) book is already available on CD. I bet this is a downloadable version of that work. |

Yes, it will be Walt narrating and will be a downloadable version of the 22 CD version of the book. However, the retail price will be a lot less then having to produce the physical CD's. I know they're going to contract shortly. I have no idea how long it will take to get it into "audible" format... but I'll keep you posted here and on Walt's website. |

Is this still available on CD? I would like to obtain one to listen to Walt tell his story. Thank you. |

Just got the confirmation tonight. All American Boys will be available in audio books in the near future. I will post the information as soon as it is available. It will be less expensive than the CD version, for sure. And Walt appreciates the support that everyone has given him over the years. He hopes that two or three of us will buy an audio copy. |

I guess Walt will be signing some Kindles. As electronic media takes over from the printed word, getting a signed 1st edition isn't going to be easy. |

Regarding the production of paper books:Maybe publishers will respond like many record companies and bands have -- when a new CD is released, some bands also release a limited edition record album intended primarily for collectors and for the remaining audiophiles who simply prefer vinyl. One wonders if that practice will last beyond the current generation, however. |

There have to be books. There may be less, but they will always exist. I just can't envision a world without books. You will see an enormous increase in digital and audio books, though.Music, on the other hand, I can see going almost completely digital. Production costs have to drop tremendously because of that and there's no chance of scratching or breakage of any type. But I DO miss my old LP's. There was something special about them, even with the eventual scratches and dust clicks. |
