I am finishing up the book "On The Shoulders of Titans" that chronicles the development of the Gemini program and is excellent in its detail. Does anyone have a recommended book that describes similarly the development of the the Saturns and Apollo? |

I agree with Fred that "Stages to Saturn" is a great book on the development of those launch vehicles. I forget how much of that book is devoted to the Apollo CSM, but good books on that topic are the classic Apollo by Charles Murray and Catherine Cox (now subtitled "The Race to the Moon") and "How Apollo Flew to the Moon" by David Woods (who posts in these forums). After that you'll want (I mean need) "Moon Lander" by Tom Kelly. And don't forget "Moonport," the story of the civil engineering behind the facilities used to launch these missions. Happy reading! |

Chariots for Apollo is one of the best books I have read really showed the process of designing the LM by painting a vivid image in my mind. I have never found a book for the CSM that was as good I will give Stages of Saturn a read me thinks.
