Space Rockets Owners' Workshop Manual: Space Rockets and Launch Vehicles from 1942 Onwards (All Models)
by David Baker
Rocket motors have made possible everything we do in space - from the tiniest motor the size of a pea to giant motors bigger than a house, they have been used to propel into space launchers as tall as St Paul's Cathedral weighing as much as a Navy warship - the Saturn V.

The Rocket Manual tells the story of rocket motors, how they were first developed, how they work, what they are used for and how they are operated. This fascinating Manual explains and describes not only the engines themselves but also the rockets that carry payloads into space, to the Moon and to the planets.

Amazon UK gives a new title to this book (as updated above): "Space Rockets Owners' Workshop Manual: Space Rockets and Launch Vehicles from 1942 Onwards (All Models)".

It was: "Rocket Manual: All Types and Models 1926-2013".

Is this a companion to David Baker's 1978 book "The Rocket: The History and Development of Rocket and Missile Technology"?

Only the author can answer!

The cover seems to portray a Titan III/IV and an early Atlas (?).

Hmmm, I guess I was expecting some sort of encyclopedia or an updated version of "Rockets of the World" (Peter Alway, Saturn Press, 1995).

The book focuses mainly on U.S. and European launchers with only the V-2 and Soyuz deserving a chapter. Other rockets are apparently mentioned (according to the index) but are not attributed specific chapters. I guess that would have required a second book/volume. A pity.

All times are CT (US)
