Was lucky enough to meet Walt Cunningham yesterday and chat for a few minutes. I had managed to get a copy of his book "The All American Boys" and have him sign it. While we were talking about things in the book, he said he has recently started to reedit it for publication, and he said he is writing some more chapters to update it. Hopefully it will be out next year, keep an eye out for it! |

I hope he upgrades his view of women in NASA. He was quite old fashioned about women's future roles in the space program in the old edition of All-American Boys. I hope Walt gets with the program (pun intended). |

One thing I didn't know until Walt's two days of appearances here in San Diego this week to promote the paperback edition of The All-American Boys:Not only has the paperback edition been revised in places to correct a couple of typos and other things Walt wanted to fix - the last 29 pages, the Epilogue, has been substantially revised, and in places completely rewritten, to be even more up to date on post-Columbia developments. As you may know from Walt's op-ed articles in the papers, he has very definite opinions on what is currently happening in NASA. For a book completist like me, the new epilogue was enough of a reason to buy a new copy of the book. |

I just received a note from Walt Cunningham about The All American Boys.As many of you know, the "current version" of the hard cover is long sold out as is the "trade paperback" version. Walt has less than a dozen copies of the 1977 version, First Edition, Third Printing still available for $95, signed [that's a steal] and the audio CD unabridged version is still available. Walt also informed me that AAB will become available again in paperback with new cover art "sometime in September" of this year. He didn't say if any more has been added to the book, it's price and availability - but it HAS been unavailable for awhile. As soon as I have more info, it will be posted here as well as Walt's website. |

Here is the cover of the translated version of Walt Cunningham's "The All-American Boys" autobiography in Italian, titled "I Ragazzi Della Luna" (which I believe translates to "The Boys of the Moon"). |

Walt also sells this as an audio book on CD read by himself. This is FANTASTIC. It's often available at the KSC store signed. Highly recommended. |

Walt has told me that there will not be any additional chapters in the version that is being released in September, The only difference will be in the cover art and some of the photos that are inside. There have been a lot of requests for this book since it went out of print [once again] and here's another chance to get your hands on a copy starting next month.
The book will be available both signed and unsigned through his web site at the same price as the old version [not the Italian version, which sounds like something that I like to pour over my pasta] as soon as it comes into stock in September. I'd assume that it will also be available through the normal channels.The new cover art will be posted to Walt's web site sometime today. |

Please don't forget Walt does a wonderful reading of his work in audiobook form.AAB was a great "listen," with plenty of wry insight and laughs among great living history of Apollo. |
