Just got a copy of Andrew Chaikin's Space: A History Of Space Exploration In Photographs. It looks like Michael Light's Full Moon only with a broader group of pictures. The pictures are of better quality then the Full Moon book, but like Full Moon some of the large pictures appear across the fold of the book binding. There is a beautiful picture of the Saturn V launching past the LUT, but it is chopped in half instead of a foldout. What is interesting is to see pictures of events that you might not have seen before. Larry |

Mark,The pictures are the ones you see in every book, but the quality is excellent. The pictures range from Ranger and Surveyor to Apollo. The lunar pictures are a small part of the book. There are Mercury and Vostok to the Shuttle and Soyuz. There is also a lot of Mariner, Pioneer, Venera and Voyager photos of the planets and several Hubble pictures. It is a good book in that you can get many of the famous photographs in one volume. Larry

It's an excellent book - we'd expect no less from Andy. He was at the Space Walk of Fame reunion last weekend and scammed me into buying a copy... But Im glad I did - it's very nice. And of course, he signed it across the inside cover. If you ever get a chance to meet Andy and just chat - I'd highly recommend it. Al |

I found this book tonight at our local Barnes and Noble for $9.99. It's a big coffee table book with some really great photographs on quality paper. If you don't have it and live close to a B&N, I highly suggest it. Well worth the money.Joel |

When this title was first released, Andy Chaikin partnered with collectSPACE to present his favorite photos from SPACE. |

This item is labeled as a "Little Book" and if you scroll down to the "Product Dimensions" you'll see that it's just 3.5 x 3.4 x 0.5 inches (and 2.9 ounces).Little book, little price? |

And the ISBN refers to this book, which explains why you have the following on Amazon: Look for Similar Items by Subject Jokes & riddles Transportation Aviation - General Transportation / Aviation / General I've tried several times to inform Amazon that there was something wrong but I guess I'll try again. I apologize for the confusion.Chris. |

That's a pitty and something that should be avoided in order to make a book more attractive to us spaceflight buffs. NASA centers have a treasure on old photos but since NASA teamed up with civil contractors it became "expensive" to get the photos scanned and available for publication (about US $30.00 per photo if you order a lot so they can look up/scan/classify a few photos per hour) but it's certainly worth it having a rare photo in your article/book. |
