Anyone else remember the Atari Lunar Lander game? Well, now you can play it on Atari's website.

I forgot how addicting this game was. Last time I played it was at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville as they had it set up in the museum in a semi-mocked up LM display. So myself and a few other classmates who arrived early for Level 2 Space Camp (later known as Space Academy) were playing it to try out our skills (I don't recall any of us making a successful landing).

I would love to have an old Lunar Lander arcade game sitting in my living room (although most of the cabinets got recycled to become Asteroids games).

Well, yeah, sort of. But I want an original Lunar Lander cabinet as opposed to something with 150 games on it. Besides, give me those rotate two buttons (I wish it was a joystick personally, more like a real LM), the big honking throttle handle and the abort button and that is what can make it fun!

By the way, on the website game you can use the mouse like the throttle handle. I found it works much better than just using the button.

Atari's Greatest Hits for Apple iOS includes Lunar Lander as well, but from what I've read, the app interface isn't great (embedded ads being the largest complaint).

Ahh yes, I remember it well... in fact, I have a REALLY nice one in my NASA themed gameroom. Maybe I need to upload some pictures one of these days... I read a thread in which Robert Pearlman stated how cool would it be to walk into a gameroom with all these 'NASA' coin-op games. I'm up to 8 science-fact machines and another half dozen sci-fi pinball and arcades (Star Trek, Star Wars, Asteroids, etc.)

What do you want to know about Lunar Lander? I know the entire history and electronic guts, its a particular fascination of mine...

A decent working Lunar Lander brings $1000 or so... A really nice one can bring up to $2000. I wouldn't even sell mine, its one of a kind and priceless to me!

Well when the time is right (and the budget is willing), I'll have to get in touch with you then so I know what to look for.

So, if you have a NASA themed game room, I assume you also have a Williams Space Shuttle pinball game? I remember burning more than a few quarters in that game at a local business (Star Realm) during the late 1980s. Those were the days!
