This is a bit of a "Hail Mary," but I figure that if anyone knows the answer it will be someone on this forum.

In the lobby of the Kennedy Space Center Launch Control Center is a large painting depicting various launches. The artist's signature looks something like "Al Stadt" but we can't make it out.

The legend was that Robert McCall painted it, but we're told it wasn't McCall.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

If it helps, here's a photo of the mural:

Thanks ... We have a lead that it was donated to the LCC by United Space Alliance.

I remember seeing this mural on display at the KSCVC during visits in 1983 and 1988.

I find it odd that the Lunar Module is missing from this mural. That spacecraft was a big part of what got us to the moon, and it's admired by many.

Indeed some people say it's the only true manned spacecraft (that is, designed to work only in a vacuum) ever designed.

Technically, there IS a LM in the mural, you just can't see it because it is inside the Saturn V's S-IVB adaptor (unless it is Apollo 8 being represented).

Once the LCC tours start, I'll try to take a photo of the artist's signature and see if anyone recognizes it.

All times are CT (US)
