I have two copies of Gene Cernan's Last Man on the Moon, first edition 1999 both are identical except for the second page.

On my one copy is a title page, on the other is has a note from Cernan (typeset) addressed "To Friends of Omega".

I am guessing this was some sort of promotional copy of the book for Omega watches?

That's the word I got... from the publisher, if I remember correctly.

I found mine at Barnes and Noble... some of the copies on the shelf were with the letter and some were not. The nearby Borders did not have any with the letter.

Of course, that Cernan sig. is printed. The publisher told me that the letters should have been removed before they got to the retail shelf.

I always figured it was just a good bonus for me!

I remember when this book came out in 1999 I ordered it from Amazon.com but when i found it in a bookstore in Amsterdam I just couldn t resist to buy it. I couldn't wait for the one from Amazon.com. Both copies have the Omega Page and I to see it as a bonus.

I ordered last year from Omega in Bienne (Switzerland) a copy of their book "Speedmaster Professional" and they sent me a free hardcover copy of Last Man on the Moon with the letter also.

I suspect they still have quite a few there.

All times are CT (US)
