Can someone who has this book give a brief review? Is it worth getting if one already has a large collection of books about the Apollo program? Does it give concise explanations of topics like the USB system, or pre landing information?

Many thanks.

I have a copy of this book. It breifly touches on a lot of subjects, not just Apollo. It's a nice book to have to give short, quick answers to questions that may arise. If you have a large collection of books, as I do, it's still a nice book to have in your collection. It's good for answering childrens questions about NASA.

Do you consider yourself an idiot? If not, do you need a book for idiots?

Personally, I find this whole "idiots' guide" thing annoying. It sends the subliminal message that we're all idiots and should stay that way. So many self-help books are devoted to emotional or physical needs ("find a better you!" or "lose weight fast!") and so few to intellectual needs.

It's a primer, rather than a detailed source. I recommended it to a friend for an interested young teenager. It covers a lot of facts, and it has interesting interjections by Tom Jones, the astronaut. It's not going to replace more detailed texts, but if you decide you would like a copy, the signed copies on BuySpace are a bargain.

One more thing to add. The book is about spaceflight, primarily manned spaceflight, and there is nothing on NASA's aeronautics programs.

All times are CT (US)
