Hi Group,

I just had something interesting happen to me. I came across a photo on the Apollo Archive site, in the image gallery, of the Apollo 7 crew next to a model of the Saturn 1B, a model I just finished building myself. I thought it would be nice to have this photo displayed next to my Saturn, downloaded it, took it up to Walmart to have a nice 5x7 printed out. I went to pick it up and they would not give it to me without a signed copyright authorization.

This caught me by surprise as I thought it would be OK to print since I was able to downloaded from that site.

I could use guidance here.

Thanks,
wick

ApolloArchives.com is a privately owned site but most, if not all the photos they display there were taken by and for NASA. Go back to Walmart and tell them that the photo is by NASA, a government agency, for which no copyright is asserted. You can point them to this website for more information:

I have had this happen to me many times. The best thing to do is to take a paper copy of the link that Robert posted. They will be able to keep that on file and if it comes up again they should have it. The only proplem with that is due to the employee turn over at Walmart sometimes it is all new folks and no one knows what you are talking about. That's why I keep a copy in my glove box :-)

Thanks, Robert, I appreciate it. I didn't think I was doing anything wrong.

Same here. I had to make a 20 mile round trip home just to print the copyrights material from the webpage. They glanced at it and gave me my photos.
