SMPI/Sheilah Mitchell Productions Inc. Release
Astronaut Mitchell's CDs Released On 34th Anniversary Of Apollo 14

In honor of the 34th Anniversary of the launch date of Apollo 14 on January 31st and the landing on the moon on February 5th, SMPI has just released three CDs authored and narrated by Capt. Edgar D. Mitchell, Lunar Module Pilot and the sixth man to walk on the moon. The CDs include: To The Moon and Back I -An Extraordinary Journey, To The Moon and Back II - Return To Home Planet, and The View From Space - A Message of Peace.

Now the only surviving member of the original Apollo 14 crew, which also included Col. Stuart Roosa and Adm. Alan Shepard, Dr. Edgar Mitchell likes to reminisce about his tossing a javelin a few inches beyond the golf ball hit by Alan Shepard on the moon. Shepard and Mitchell walked on the moon for 34 hours, launched from the lunar surface on February 6th, and then joined Roosa, who awaited their return from overhead in the Command Module. Together the three returned to Earth to splashdown on February 9th, 1971.

Sheilah Mitchell, CEO of SMPI (Sheilah Mitchell Productions Inc.) surprised her former spouse, Dr. Mitchell with the CDs, on which she worked with the original producer, Frank LoConto of Sunrise Studios. Their 20-year old son Adam is featured on the CDs' new introduction.

"These three CDs are timeless, and A Message of Peace becomes more important as each day passes. What an amazing experience to travel to the moon and back with Edgar!" said Sheilah.

Terry Benzia of Visionary Company recently lauded the CDs, saying "The children of the world will have the opportunity to lead us into a more peaceful world when they bring their family circle together to listen and to experience these three awesome CDs!"

Although they are no longer married, both Edgar and Sheilah Mitchell have not allowed anything to interrupt their mutual quest for peace in the world. Several years ago, Oprah Winfrey interviewed the couple on her show. A frequent guest on the Larry King LIVE-TV Show, Dr. Deepak Chopra recently congratulated SMPI for their efforts towards peace (SMPI's website is currently in development) and stated that he "will do whatever possible to help and to promote the three CDs on his website and at his Chopra Centers."

Founder of The Institute of Noetic Sciences, Dr. Mitchell has spent over twenty years studying human consciousness in the search for a common ground between science and spirit, described in his books, Psychic Exploration: A Challenge For Science and The Way of the Explorer - An Apollo Astronaut's Journey Through the Material and Mystical Worlds. The winner of numerous awards, he is presently working with a company on a project to reduce hurricane winds. Featured in several documentaries by the famed pioneer producer, Elda Hartley, Dateline NBC and numerous other radio and television shows, Dr. Mitchell was also significantly involved in promoting acupuncture and other alternative therapies, for the initial funding of Dr. Herbert Benson's research in the Mind-Body Connection and for supporting other projects, such as The Course in Miracles.

Dr. Mitchell has given SMPI the exclusive rights to production and marketing of the CDs, which will also be showcased on FascinatingPeople.com. For more information, phone (561) 218-3355 or E-mail MitchellProductions@msn.com. Dr. Mitchell's schedule of events and calendar is available on his website.

Ed Mitchell had (signed) copies of this 3-CD set for sale in New Jersey the other weekend, and I bought a set. I have been listening to them in the car on my commutes this week.

Man, they are good! Mitchell describes the Apollo 14 mission from launch to landing with detail, conviction and passion. To my mind, he covers them better than in either of his books, and to hear it in his own voice is priceless.

I'd highly recommend this as perhaps the best account of Apollo 14 by one of its crew available.
