The latest issue of the "Astrophile" (Mar/Apr 2005), official bi-monthly, award winning, 48-page journal of the Space Unit, contains many articles of interest to space philatelists and collectors. They cover many subject areas: rocket mail, Cassini, Explorer, ASTP, Ursa Major, Rosetta, Lake Champlain PRS, USS Noa, Chinese Taikonauts, Destination Mars, Women in Space, space history, space publications, X34A, Space Ship One, and many other areas of interest. It is remarkable how much information is crammed into every issue. This issue also contains 48 illustrations.

The next issue will contain articles by at least two NEW writers and perhaps three. This is interesting because the "Astrophile" usually contains articles by Space Unit members. These NEW writers are from outside the SU. It occurred to me while editing these new articles that there may be many other space collectors out there who either have never written an article about their collection or space-related experiences or have done this very infrequently.

The "Astrophile" needs your articles (any length). Reading the postings on this message board, I am continually impressed with the level of the discussion, the wide variety of subject matter, and the knowledge of the collectors. While the "Astrophile" is a journal devoted to space philately, we often print articles on other aspects of the hobby: patches, coins, auctions, etc.. We could also use photos and illustrations for the articles, so don't forget to bring your camera when you attend a space-related event.

The Space Unit does not pay for submitted material. After publication, it will remain your property and may be submitted to other publications for reprinting. But you will be rewarded by seeing your articles in print in a journal that hundreds of SU members (500+) and many others will read. Contact me at: Bill30Park@aol.com if you need additional information about how to prepare an article for publication. You can also e-mail your articles to me at that address, including illustrations. I will edit it for you and will submit it to the SU for publication. If the article does not involve philately, I will add a few appropriate stamps or covers to illustrate the subject.

If you are not a member of the Space Unit, you may wish to obtain our new colorful membership application, which lists the benefits of membership. Write to me at the above e-mail address and include your mailing address.
