Chinese State TV has completed shooting a new drama series to be set in the world of the Chinese Astronaut Training Centre, and apparently set in the very near future. The series will run to 30 one hour episodes, and will begin airing in April 2019.

The series has been largely shot at the Chinese Astronaut Training Centre in Beijing, and more recently, at the Juiquan Satellite Launch Centre.

"Flying Heroes" (飞天英雄) does not have an internet presence in its own right as yet, but hundreds of images have been published by individual performers on their Social Media sites.

The series appears to be a combination of fact and fiction. For example, the 2013 flight of Shenzhou 10 is reconstructed, with a fictional crew, but using authentic mission patches. However, there is also a fictional Shenzhou 12 mission!

Production values appear to be high, with accurate replicas of Shenzhou capsules created, and equally accurate uniforms, patches, insignia etc.

It will be interesting to see if this series is able to be viewed outside China, and how closely fictional future events match the eventual reality!

Good job the identification of a drama series is explained. The images remind me of the "missing cosmonauts of the USSR" saga during the 1970s and 1980s. Fortunately, there is no need to investigate these mysterious "missing taikonauts" then.
