Has anyone ever thought about this? When the late Neil Armstrong was admitted to hospital for his heart operation, at one point he must have had to sign a document to go ahead with the medical procedure, and that signature would in all probability been the last written word by his hand.

Knowing the significance of this, what would become of that document?

I presume it would become part of his medical file and subject to HIPAA Privacy laws. The HIPAA Privacy Rule applies to the individually identifiable health information of an individual for 50 years following the date of death of the individual.

Anyone who obtained such a document could not sell it for a very long time without risking serious fines and penalties.

You're also presuming information that's not (nor should be) publicly known.

For example, someone with the power of attorney could have signed any needed paperwork (as was the case when I brought my mother into the hospital before her passing).

Armstrong passed away some days following the procedure did he not? It is quite possible that he may have signed other hospital or personal documents in that timeframe.

I would not like to have the signed documents be it Armstrong or not. The poor man signed because he was fighting to stay alive, bad vibes...
