Retired space shuttle pilot Bill Oefelein has an interesting new website which, among other things, states he will do personalized autographs on photos or other items for free, other than postage and handling costs ($10 for photos and $1 for other items if accompanied by SASE).

He calls himself "Billy O" and offers freelance writing, speaking, and other services from his home base in Alaska.

Interesting. In "Billy O's" bio, he calls himself "one of the greatest aviators of all time".

In Colleen Shipman's bio (the girl Lisa Nowak was allegedly stalking in Fla), she calls herself an aviator, yet there is no mention of what she flies or has flown. She was an engineer and staffer in the AF.

I tried this out. He does what he advertises. Even got an email telling me they got my request. Mailed out very quickly. He backs up his website. Thanks Billy O.

He does not do signings by mail anymore, only in person. I had sent him a photo plus a check before I knew about this, and when I inquired by e-mail about my materials, got the response, "Normally, we don't return items."

The person responding said they would get Billy O to sign my stuff when they were in town a month later, and that was a month ago. So I don't expect my photo back (no big loss) and in the meantime, I'm keeping the money in my account another four months before thinking the check stale.
