Does anyone know if the promo sheets for SpaceShots cards have real or facsimile signatures? I found one on eBay for my son but it only went for $21. The sheet has six cards and then a large blank space on the bottom where the signatures are. The signatures are of Lovell, Conrad and Cernan. Also, how many series to the cards are there? I read there are four series. Is the Moon to Mars series the fourth series? Thanks. |

Probably real. I think there were three sets made with maybe 100 cards each. Brainchild of Ed White III, not too popular with astronauts for his dubious business dealings. Got into a couple of them for a lot of money. Space Ventures, which produced SpaceShots, went out of business in the early 90's, but some astronauts refuse to sign them still. |

There were three different SpaceShots promo sheets that were produced by Space Ventures, Inc. in 1991-92. The first series of uncut card sheets with six different card images were signed by Lovell, Conrad and Cernan. Another six-card set sheet was signed by Lovell, McCandless, and cosmonaut Dzhanibekov. There was a third series of nine cards signed by Lovell, Dzhanibekov, and Aldrin. All the signatures were genuine, however, Cernan and Lovell later dropped out of the entire project — as did most of the other involved astronauts and cosmonauts. There were three series of SpaceShots cards that Eddie White III produced from Dallas, TX. Each set contained 110 high quality cards with Set 3 being an international series edition. The fourth, and last, set to come out was a 3D special edition, Moon Mars, in 1992 that contained 36 cards. It was this special edition set that eventually put Space Ventures out of business, but that is another story — and rather a quite long one — for this forum. |

It's a real shame too. I still have some Project Mercury Cards as well as the Man on the Moon cards from the late 60's. I thought Space Shots was a terrific idea and they did a great job. I have all four sets in their original boxes.I'm not making the same mistake I did with my baseball cards by clothes-pinning them to the spokes on my bike to make it sound like a motorcycle. All the money I threw away... I heard from Jim DeSantis then president of the AMF that the whole project went bad. A lot of bad feelings, but I never new the details. |

Look at it this way...the reason some of those baseball cards are so valuable is because so many kids ran them through the spokes of their bikes...ultimately reducing their numbers. You did your part to establish the current market value.

I have here a SpaceShots promo sheet printed on glossy paper front and back with the Lovell, Conrad and Cernan cards and signatures.The signatures are a part of the sheet, pre-printed if you like. Text at the bottom reads: Actual promo sheet is printed on standard trading card stock and all autographs are original. So this looks like a promo sheet for the promo sheets! A quick look on the internet shows a few of these being sold as genuine. |

I have one of the promo sheets marked "-Flyer- For Example Only", with the text at the bottom left as described by rbee above, and I also have one of the Lovell/Conrad/Cernan six-card sheets. The six-card sheet is signed only by Capt Lovell, with "Apollo 8, 13" inscribed below his signature. |
