Association of Space Explorers (ASE) launches AstroNotes

Send the gift of inspiration!

The Association of Space Explorers (ASE) introduces AstroNotes, an opportunity for you to send someone special the gift of inspiration, or an out-of-this-world birthday greeting!

AstroNotes offers a personalized inscription and autograph – a valuable and historic collectible appropriate for any special occasion – from the very few in human history who have viewed the earth from space.

AstroNotes supports ASE's global scientific and education outreach activities, from Near Earth Object (NEO) hazard mitigation to ASE scholarships for students studying science, technology, engineering and mathematics; please join ASE in inspiring tomorrow’s explorers, scientists, engineers and innovative thinkers!

The Association of Space Explorers is an independent, nonprofit 501(c)(3) professional and educational organization of over 350 flown astronauts and cosmonauts from 35 nations. Founded in 1985, ASE's mission is to provide a forum for professional dialogue among the individuals who have flown in space; to promote the benefits of space science and exploration; to promote education in science technology, engineering and mathematics; to foster environmental awareness; and to encourage international cooperation in the peaceful uses of outer space.

AstroNotes arrive in a custom greeting card with a personalized, hand signed inscription and signature from an ASE member astronaut. Your message can also be sent through Twitter to the recipient of your choice.

The astronauts participating in AstroNotes will vary and be added to over time. Each astronaut and cosmonaut participating will only sign a very limited number of cards.

Launching AstroNotes are the following astronauts and cosmonauts: Karol "Bo" Bobko, Scott Carpenter, Walt Cunningham, Owen Garriott, Rusty Schweickart, Franz Viehbock, and Dumitru-Dorin Prunariu.

If there is any interest, I can update the individual quotas here (each flier to sign 20 cards only, and obviously, the more well-known folks are going to go fast) for fliers that may be nearing the end of their quotas...

Just a quick update:

• Carpenter will sign 5 more cards and he'll be done.
  
• Garriott will be done no later than Thursday, if he has not run out of cards before then.
  
• Schweickart still has some cards left, but I don't expect those to last long.

As expected, Scott has completed signing all of his cards. We will add new fliers every two weeks or so; the selection group will also grow in size, but prudence dictated keeping it simple for the time being.

We always appreciate your feedback, as well – good, bad or otherwise!

Just as a general note, unless there is a question about or a problem with your AstroNote, we won't send out an acknowledgement of receipt. If the flier's name is on the selectable list when you place your order, you WILL receive an AstroNote from that flier (this guarantee does not apply, however, to the person who sits down and decides they want to order 100 from the same flier, for example).
