From the back cover of Beckett Baseball (via Jeff Ecker): Topps' product sheet for the Co-Signers mentions 10 astronauts on their checklist: Buzz Aldrin, Robert Crippen, Scott Carpenter, Walt Cunningham, Charles Duke, Richard Gordon, Fred Haise, Edgar Mitchell, Wally Schirra and Alfred Worden (though other ads promote only eight astronauts without listing who they are). The astronauts' signed "Solo Moon Shots" and "Moon Shots Dual" cards, the latter also including the autograph of a home run slugger. According to the Topps' online checklist, the pairing includes: David Wright (New York Mets) with Duke; Ryan Howard (Philadelphia Phillies) with Cunningham; Alfonso Soriano (Chicago Cubs) with Crippen; Andre Dawson (Chicago Cubs) with Worden; Jermaine Dye (Chicago White Sox) with Gordon; Alex Rodriguez (New York Yankees) with Aldrin; Dave Winfield (New York Yankees) with Mitchell; Garrett Atkins (Colorado Rockies) with Carpenter; David Ortiz (Boston Red Sox) with Wally Schirra; and Duke Snider (Brooklyn Dodgers) with Fred Haise. Each box of 12 packs (6 cards per pack) has randomly inserted three autographed cards including one dual signed card (there are baseball player solo-signed cards). Topps has set the release of the 2007 set for May 30, 2007. |

These are going to be great cards, the only draw back is I bet they are REALLY LIMITED! I would like to know the numbers on these how many each signed, the only problem with Topps cards is the great autos are to hard to pull and will sell for alot on the secondary market. |

The odds don't look too good, however, unless a buyer is also interested in baseball authographs. If I'm understanding the Topps' site correctly, there's one co-signers card per box of 12-packs, for example. There are, however, 128 'Dual Autographed' cards on the list, 10 'Moonshot' cards, and 20 types of 'co-signers cut signatures', all of which are included in the 'co-signers - 1 per box' category. I assume there won't be equal numbers of al types, but it does suggest that there's a much greater chance of getting a baseball dual-signed in each box of 12 than an astro. It might be cheaper to buy a particular card on the secondary market, although I don't have any knowledge of baseball card prices to know if that would be true in practice. |

I think your best bet to get some of these cards would be on the secondary market. My guess is that most baseball card collectors would rather have a Tom Gordon signed card than a Dick Gordon signed card. You might be able to find some astronaut cards on ebay or at card shows for cheaper prices than the baseball players. |

At first I was thinking about buying a box of these cards when they come out, if I could find them. But the more I read the more I realized that there was a good chance that I might not get any space cards at all, signed or not. How much do packets like these cost now a days. It would be nice if we could find baseball card collectors to help those that are only interested in the space cards, like me. I'll have to ask around. |

Preorder price for a case of 24 boxes, each with 12 packs, is $2550. Breaks down to about $106.25 per box. Odds are they will probably start off around $115-$125 a box when they first come out. |

I've been a sports card collector for as long as I've collected Space memorabilia, about 45 years. These limited autograph editions are extremely hard to pull. I suppose you could get lucky, but in all the time of buying these type of sets, I was only able to get one autographed card out of about a 1000 purchased.BobbyA, I'm a Phillies fan and trust me, no one here wants a Tom Gordon signed card either! |

I dont know about the prices, would you pay $200 for a signed card (which is really a sticker signed) when you could get a signed 8x10 with flight designation for less then that? I have been watching them for 2 days and I am shocked at the prices am I missing something? |

I have to admit purchasing one of these cards already (I got the Charlie Duke signed card -- the first one sold on eBay?). I think the attraction is the unique nature of the item. There are many signed photographs out there, but very few signed baseball cards.I also collect astronaut signed baseballs (apparently a controversial practice according to other threads on this site!) so the signed baseball cards are a fitting complement to that collection. |

You got a bargin! I just dont get it at least the photos are really signed, the cards just have stickers on them. I would rather have the photo myself! I wonder how much they were paid per card to sign? |

In regards to the suggestion that it was a sticker, rather than the card, signed: is this based on first-hand knowledge or is it an assumption based upon the appearance from photographs or scans? I don't know either way, which is why I am asking.I think the allure to these cards can be attributed to several factors, not the least of which is their limited edition status. The fact that these were produced by Topps, perhaps the best known of the baseball card companies, gives these cards a rightful place in American culture, too. My understanding, though it's third-hand, is that the astronauts signed the cards to support a charitable organization. |

Robert, I am by no means putting Topps or the cards down, as an autograph collector I prefer a whole document as opposed to a cut signature, I am sure those who signed these didn't think they would go as high as they are, I am glad to hear that a charity may have benefited from this. As far as the sticker goes that is one reason my son and I have given up on a lot of the sports cards, it seems people can sign a sheet of stickers and return them more often then they return the cards, it looks like this is the case from the pics I have seen. And I will admit that I will try to get one of somebody whos auto I do not own if I am lucky enough to. But as with all things to each his own. By the way Robert you interested in them as something you would collect? And lastly, if in fact it is stickers I would guess there will be more cards in some other set to? Good luck to those collecting them! |

Though it's far from the main focus of my collection, I do have a small display devoted to where and when space history has crossed over into pop culture, and these cards would fit that bill. Other examples: the Mattel Hot Wheels JPL Action Packs, G.I. Joe astronaut action figures, the dual-packed Mighty Morphin Power Rangers with Apollo moonwalker, and entertainment tie-in products related to "The Right Stuff", "Apollo 13", "From The Earth To The Moon", "The Cape", etc. As such, the autographs themselves are of less interest to me personally as is the fact that the cards were issued by Topps to celebrate the astronauts. |

These are definitely stickers. I also collect sports cards, and the card companies have been doing this for several years, as a way to reduce "redemption" cards. This happens when a player doesn't return the actual cards in time for them to be place in the packs and shipped to retailers. With the stickers, the companies have a stock of a person's autograph, and can then put them on whatever card they want to. |

I bought two Co-Signer boxes today and from one of the boxes, I pulled a Dual ARod-Buzz Aldrin. It is a beautiful card. I really like the concept of combining astronauts with Big Sluggers. |

Finally put together a complete set of all 20 cards via eBay. I know they are signed stickers but I really like them. Coincidentally just got my Astronaut Scholarship Foundation newsletter and saw a note in there about these cards that says "Ten astronauts signed 200 cards each in exchange for a $60,000 donation from Topps to the ASF." I assume that means that there are 100 of each astronaut individually and 100 of each co-signer card. I wonder if I am interpreting this correctly or if anyone else knows if that is indeed the size of the entire run. |

By the way, I am convinced that the ad at the top of this thread does not show an actual card but shows a mock-up of one done by somebody at Topps before the cards were actually signed. All of the A-Rod /Aldrin cards I've seen pictures of have a very sloppy scribbled "ARod..." instead of the very nice legible Alex Rodriguez signature shown in the advertisement and they all have the current Buzz Aldrin (as opposed to old Edwin) signature. |

Felt like something out of Willy Wonka when my 2 sons and I bought 3 packs last night... They each opened theirs first and were happy enough to get some of the insert cards. My pack was last. As we shuffled through the 6 cards, my oldest saw it first. Not sure who jumped higher! We pulled a Worden/Dawson dual signed card. If was like we had just pulled the golden ticket! Of course, now they want to go after the other 19...Very good looking card. It will look great next to my astronaut baseball collection! |

If you're looking for the signed astro cards, you're much better off just buying them (e-Bay, etc) rather than trying to get them from packs, IMO. |

$60000 / (10 astronauts x 200 cards = 2000 signed cards) = $30 for each signed card to the ASF. Not too shabby... |

That is a real win-win.The Astronauts Scholarship Foundation has been funding $10,000 scholarships for some really great collegians. The results are very impressive. I am pleased that these individuals are studying and doing research instead of flipping burgers. Money well spent. |

I also have the Beckett with the Moon Shots insert ad on the back. On that ad, they show the Buzz Aldrin/Alex Rodriguez dual signed card with Buzz's signature as "Edwin E. Aldrin". The only dual signed ones I can find are with "Buzz Aldrin". Have you heard of any of them actually signed "Edwin E. Aldrin"? There have been none in eBay so far. |

Bought a pack today and sadly didn't get an astronaut autograph. I did get a rookie card signed by Dennis Sarfarte though. Oh well, at least I got that. |

I picked up a box of these Topps cards today and pulled the Al Worden Apollo 15 Co-Signers autograph card. It is a duplicate card for me so if anyone would like to swap for it or purchase, feel free to write. |
