As mentioned in this thread I decided to see if I could obtain the autographs of the Journalist-in-Space semifinalists, 36 of the 40 of whom are still alive.Theresa "Terry" Anzur was a national correspondent for NBC News in Washington, DC back then; now she runs a coaching service in the Los Angeles area. She said she'd still like to go. Contacted her through her website, and she sent a photo within a week. |

Also about a week: Marcia Bartusiak, who signed the back of a photo I sent. Then a freelance writer from Norfolk, Va., now a Professor of the Practice of the Graduate Program in Science Writing at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. (I tried visiting her office one time I was there but she wasn't in.) |

Sent June 7, received June 16: Ted Conover, reverse of photo sent, along with letter apologizing for slight smear as he's left-handed. Then a freelancer from Denver, now an author and Distinguished Writer in Residence at NYU. |

Six, including Cronkite, the only one I've met in person. I've heard Hockenberry speak in person (but wasn't able to approach him) and tried but couldn't make it to signings by Conover and Caroline T. "Terry" Marotta. Bartusiak and Roger Rosenblatt weren't in their offices when I stopped by. I used to work with (as in the same company, different floors) with Noble Wilford, but didn't get an autograph from him at that time.Just got my photo signed by Morotta today in fact. She was a freelancer at that time, and now is a author, speaker and syndicated columnist. And while not part of the 1986 selection, I do have a signed photo from Miles O'Brien. Keep missing him in person, though. |

Today's mail brought a signed photo I sent Lynn Sherr. Couldn't make it to one of her signings, and she also enclosed a signed label to put in her Ride bio, which I have to pick up.... |

About a week: Lee McEachern Jr., then a reporter for KGO-TV, now a producer with Best Images Productions, a motion picture and video production company. He was surprised at being asked for a signature and wanted to know how many I had received. |

I'm flattered that you thought of me." |
