Hi everyone

Although I don't regulary post, I have enjoyed reading this message board for a long time. I must thank the people who put all the work into the article on Armstrongs autograph, it is very interesting to see how his signature has changed over the years.

It got me thinking, as a proud owner of the Paul Calle, armstrong print (872/1000) does anyone have any more information on how this print came about, any more pictures from the print signing event etc. I would also love to know what happened to the original sketch - did Armstrong get it, does Calle still have it, or did NASM keep it?

Look forward to hearing from you all.

David

Hi David,

You are certainly lucky to have a copy of the print. I know lots of people who would love to have one.

The original pencil sketch was done while the Apollo 11 crew were suiting up prior to leaving for the moon. Michael Collins mentions this in Carrying the Fire.

The prints were signed by Neil Armstrong and Paul Calle at the National Air and Space Museum on December 23, 1976 and were sold there to raise money for the Charles Lindbergh Memorial Fund.

The print originally came with an information sheet about the background to the print and biographies of Neil Armstrong and Paul Calle.

Hope that helps.

Regards, Ian from Oz
