Should I add further signatues to this image and if so who? Larger version: http://www.skippyinspace.bravepages.com/apemb14.JPG Note Dave Scott has been added and Mike Collins is in the Process of being added. Should I pay the big bucks for Aldrin? The medium Bucks for Stafford (makes a Gemini Completion item) Or Risk losing it for Schmitt Any idea on value? [This message has been edited by collectSPACE Admin (edited January 26, 2004).] |

Man, is my post ever going to be correct? With Collins added you'll have someone from every mission. It will be practically as "complete" as possible, IMO. Don't worry about Stafford, Schmitt or anyone else. Just my 2 cents. Yeah, I had the same thought as Scott - Having at least one sig from each mission is cool. Any more (unless you can complete a crew) probably wouldn't be worth the risk or cost. Just my $.02... |

I personally won't spend the kind of money needed to ad Collins on this. I'd add signatures to it, but only if I were running into the astronauts at an event where you could politely ask and get a free signature. |

Unfortunatly being in the far north of Scotland, I wont be bumping into any of the guys I need to add to the item...BTW this piece was only started in May 2000 and has been compiled from Through the mail signings, Autographica 2000, AHOF 2001, Novaspace and Auroa. Yes my hart skips beats until its back in my hands. Thanks for the advice so far. |

Nice piece, Skippy. The Collins is a great addition. If you can afford Aldrin, go for it. Years from now you won't regret it. The Apollo 11 sigs will be highly sought after. Also, I never thought Collins would sign again- so who knows, maybe Armstrong will too! The piece is nice the way it is too! Tahir |

What a great piece!I would, however, go on and add Aldrin. The reason is that although it will be "complete" on some level, with multi-signed items, my eye always automatically jumps first to the A11 signatures. I then check out all the other signatures. I know this sounds too simplified, but with such pieces, I feel the relative value is first judged by the completeness of A11. All the others would be secondary. This includes the fabled John Young signature (Oh boy! I just opened a can of worms!) Anyway, you could always get Peachstate to add an Armstrong in the future. |

Peachstate, Inc. may be out of the Armstrong autograph business now. But actually its standard m.o. was to take Apollo 11 items already signed by Armstrong & Collins to Buzz Aldrin for his completing signature. Peachstate said that it bought a large number of items signed only by Armstrong & Collins from an individual, who later passed away, and had them completed by Aldrin in person & then sold them for several years. These, along with a large number of Armstrong WSSs, later were included in Peachstate's recall after their authenticity was seriously questioned. Peachstate Armstrong WSSs & Apollo 11 crew signed items still occasionally pop up for sale that missed being returned for a refund. BMc |

I was thinking about how to get the item signed by Harrison Schmitt without risking its sending thru the mail.. if you are going to frame the item, you could make a copy..and send it along with a clear sheet of acid free plastic trimmed to fit the size of the item.. tape it on the copy and ask Dr. Schmitt to sign the plastic cover right where you would need the signature to be, then upon receipt of the copy back .. just put the plastic sheet over the original before framing, Voila, looks as though he signed the item! Of course, if you are not framing it.... forget all that I have said. |

Hi Skippy, If I ever get a chance to see Harrison Schmitt in person again I would be glad to get that signed for you. I will let you know. Charles |

I might be looking for some one to take it to the Simms Hankow show for me though. As its about $50 cheeper than going through AVD and I know its only going to be out a month! Though I could send it to AVD around this time. |
