I have a John Young signed lithograph (blue jump suit STS-9) which would normally be out of my price range but I picked it up fairly cheaply because someone had previously trimmed two of the four white borders (presumably to fit within an A-4 sleeve). It looks odd with only two of the borders. I could: (1) trim the other two borders, (2) trim the borders and stick it to an unsigned litho to restore the look, or (3) leave as is. Which is least likely to affect, or even improve the value of this item? Thanks. |

I'm a collector, not an expert. While I would never spend my money on any cut signature, I feel like the best course of action is to leave it in as close to the original condition as possible. No way would I ever mount or cut a photo, even one that has been previously cut. Anything you do to "improve" the value can only make things worse for you moneterly. |

You can't fix damage by doing more damage. Leave it as is. If you want to display the piece, mat and frame it to cover the borders (or lack of borders). | |
