I'm quite proud of my autograph collection, as most people tend to be. I never really thought about how much it might be worth because I never intend on parting with any of it.

However, it occurred to me recently that most homeowner policies cover collections of any type to the tune of about $500 -- a drop in the bucket -- unless the collection has been appraised by an "acknowledged expert". My insurance company (State Farm) went totally blank when I asked them about someone who could evaluate my collection, however.

My question, then, is this -- who could people recommend to appraise my collection, and how would we go about doing it?
