I'd like to visit the epicenter of the Tunguska event and for the sake of this conversation let's just say that expense is not an issue. Is it even possible to visit as a tourist or do you need to be a "scientest"? Does anyone ever go there?

A quick search shows there is at least one commercial tour (see Sayan Ring) but beyond cost, it is not an easy place to visit.
The tour requires a good physical training skills (you must be ready for trekking 7 km a day with a heavy backpack).

It's within a "state nature reserve," and apparently access to the actual impact site is generally off-limits except to scientists and such. I did find a reference, though, to occasional "eco-tourist" trips there. A bigger question might be HOW one would get there — there is essentially nothing in the way of towns or roads anywhere near it.

Ha. "Price on request" is rarely ever a good sign.

Reminds me of that scene from "CollectSpace III: The Search for Tektites"
"How much and how soon?"

"How soon is now. How much is, where?"

"Somewhere in Siberia."

"Oh, Siberia restricted! Take permits many; money more."

"There aren't gonna be any darn permits! How can you get a permit to do a dared illegal thing? Look, price you name, money I got."

"Place *you* name, money *I* name, otherwise bargain, no."

"Alright, darn it! It's Tunguska! The name of the place we're going is the Tunguska epicenter!"

"Tunguska?"

"Yes, Tunguska! How can you be deaf with ears like that?"

"Tunguska allowed is not! Is crater forbidden!"

All times are CT (US)
