The Oklahoma State Legislature declared today (March 22) "General Thomas Stafford Day" and dedicated a new original oil-on-canvas portrait of the Gemini and Apollo astronaut painted by renowned local artist Mike Wimmer. Said Stafford: I am very humbled by this honor. It doesn't get any better than when the people of your home state acknowledge your life's work. I'm a very proud Oklahoman and, will be forever, a Weatherford Eagle.  |
