Toshiba will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the launch of the Hubble Space Telescope with special images from NASA, high atop One Times Square on the Toshiba Vision Screens, from 12 a.m. midnight, Monday, April 20 through Sunday, April 26.
Since its launch in April 1990, Hubble has contributed to some of the space and science world's most important discoveries. The Toshiba Vision Screens will be broadcasting a selection of 11 images taken by the Hubble Space Telescope. The images will showcase some of the most important discoveries of the past 25 years including galaxies, stars and more.
Almost 25 years ago, the Hubble Space Telescope was the butt of jokes for late night comedians. Yet, almost a quarter century later, the Hubble has far exceeded all expectations, and remains a functioning space telescope that aids in research and the field of astronomy and will continue to do so for many years to come.
"The Hubble Space Telescope remains at the forefront of innovation after being launched 25 years ago. We at Toshiba are honored to be part of celebrating this historic occasion and sharing some of these amazing images to the millions of viewers that pass through Times Square each and every day," said Eddie Temistokle, Sr. Manager Corp. Communication & CSR Toshiba America Inc.
