Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex release SpaceX Dragon Spacecraft from Historic May 2012 International Space Station Mission on Display at Kennedy Space Center Visitor ComplexFirst Commercial Spacecraft to Visit International Space Station on Display Friday, Feb. 6 through Monday, Feb. 9 at Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex The SpaceX Dragon spacecraft that made history in May 2012 as the first commercial spacecraft to deliver cargo to and from the International Space Station (ISS) will be on display for four days only – Friday, Feb. 6 through Monday, Feb. 9, 2015 – at Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex. Since this first flight, SpaceX has completed five of 12 official ISS resupply missions for NASA. Dragon is the only spacecraft currently flying that is capable of returning significant amounts of cargo to Earth. Previously, only government spacecraft were used to deliver and retrieve cargo from the ISS. The actual spacecraft used in May 2012 to visit the ISS will be on display at NASA Central, just outside the Visitor Complex's Space Shop. Guests are welcome to take photos with the authentic space-flown spacecraft. "Guests at Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex have a rare opportunity to see up close the actual SpaceX Dragon spacecraft that made the first historic journey to the International Space Station," said Therrin Protze, chief operating officer for Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex. We are honored to display this remarkable spacecraft representing SpaceX's success in resupply missions for the International Space Station and NASA.'" The SpaceX Dragon display is included with admission to Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex and is free for annual pass holders. Exhibit hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Under a $1.6 billion contract with NASA, SpaceX will fly at least seven more cargo supply missions to the ISS for a total of 12. SpaceX also is working on a Crew Dragon to complement its successful cargo spacecraft under a separate $2.6 billion contract with NASA, with the goal of flying astronauts to the International Space Station from U.S. soil in 2017. |

Tom I truly enjoyed you photos. It has been 15 years since my last visit to KSC and your images are far superior to the ones I took. Much has changed and much has stayed the same. Thanks for the tour. |

Yes, Tom, thanks! Great pictures. I enjoyed the details; capturing images I sometimes forget to get. And thanks for the warm-up, as I'll be there late April. I've seen much of it before, but looking forward to seeing Atlantis in its new home, plus Dragon. |

I hate to say it but Dragon probably won't be there in April. It was only on display for a few days. I don't know where it is now. I was there and saw it on Feb 14, a bit after the time when the news article posted by Robert stated the capsule would stay (thus I was not expecting to see it). I returned again on Feb 16 and Dragon was not there (at least not where it had been two days prior). |

Nice shots Tom. Looks like there weren't many visitors to screw up your pictures. When we went, a few days before New Year's Eve, it was unbelievably crowded and I had to give up my plans to get nice documentary images like yours. I especially like your Apollo XIV Command Module pics. |
