I was watching the movie "Space Cowboys" the other day on TV and I got to wondering where the location was for the first time Team Daedelus meets Sarah Holland. They're in a white building with what looks like an F-5 fighter plane mounted vertically to a wall in the background. Now, I know they played ridiculously loose with the geography in the film (an air museum in the immediate Houston area clearly in the desert, being able to get from KSC to the MOCR in Houston in minutes, etc.), so I assume it's not a real NASA building. But does anyone have a clue where that was in real life? |

Haven't watched it in a while but It may be the F-20 in the California Science Center. It was on the wall for a while. |

That's it!Just googled it and found a photo of it, that's clearly where they filmed it. Thanks, I never would have guessed that... |

I was there in the mid-90s on business at Palmdale/Edwards. A co-worker and I went to the Science Center one day on the way to LAX to get a flight home. Someone in our program (X-30) knew an employee and arranged a meeting. We got a quick guided tour and some back stories. I don't remember all the details but the curator or someone of equal importance knew someone big at Northrop. The F-20 ended up there because of this lifelong friendship. I always thought it was cool that's how it ended up there instead of a higher profile museum. |
