When I went to the Kennedy Space Center, as well as the Visitor Complex last month, I noticed how there's not much people as there were after the last shuttle flight in 2011...

Anecdotal reports over the past few months have varied from people having the Visitor Complex all to themselves to others saying they encountered crowds.

As for the Kennedy Space Center itself, there are in fact less people. Since January 2004, NASA has been directed to downsize its workforce, which it has done.

It's funny this message was posted as I have noticed the last two times I visited KSC the Visitor Center seemed almost deserted. I know this is an unscientific sample but I have gone at least once a year since the early 1970's and I've never had that feeling or sensed such a "lull" as my last 2 visits.

I thought it must be a quirk and still hope so especially in light of the facilities being better than ever (including the new open-air restaurant overlooking the rocked garden).

Like most attractions here in Florida, the crowds are very seasonal.

In July when we visited on a Monday, it was very crowded. The shops were full, lines waiting for the buses and the Atlantis and Saturn V. There were a lot of families. Our module on the Shuttle simulator was packed.

In late August, on a Thursday, it was very different. Not much of a crowd, and a lot of time to spend with the exhibits. There were a couple of school buses too. There were only 7 of us on the Shuttle simulator.

I wonder what the winter breaks will show this December. Every time I have visited at that time in the past, it is very busy.

All times are CT (US)
