Why is the recovered section of Gemini 5's first stage booster at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center? Why was it taken there?

I could understand the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Center, Martin/Baltimore, Smithsonian, or something more closely related to Project Gemini. I am not aware of NASA Marshall having much to do with Gemini; to my knowledge it was much more involved with Mercury (Redstone) and Apollo-Saturn.

I am disappointed that no one has responded to this inquiry. I would like to know the answers too. I visited the facility in early 2015 and was totally unaware the artifact was there. I would have made a point to view/photograph it as I am a rabid Gemini aficionado.
