This week, just days since the space shuttle Endeavour flew over where she was built, the former North American Rockwell plant in Downey, CA saw the Building 290 torn down.

This is where the Apollo command and service modules and shuttle crew cabins and tail sections were built.

Almost all of the plant will soon be gone...

No, I believe you are thinking of Hangar S at the Cape. These were all numbered.
