The Forbes Galleries, tucked within the lobby of Forbes Magazine's headquarters in New York City, will host an exhibition of jewelry with space-related themes for four months beginning in April 2013.
"Out of this World: Jewelry in the Space Age" will showcase jewelry of the 1950s and 60s with Sputnik themes; jewelry made with materials created for the Space Race such as titanium and dichroic glass; jewelry made from materials from space — meteorites (tektites, moldavites, synthetic moissanite); and jewelry taken into space by astronauts and some-related memorabilia.
The curator for this exhibition, Elyse Zorn Karlin, is the co-director of the Association for the Study of Jewelry and Related Arts, publisher of Adornment Magazine and editor of two books on jewelry. This will be her third exhibition for Forbes Galleries.
Karlin is now seeking examples of such jewelry to be loaned for the exhibit. If you can help, please e-mail her.
