According to a notice posted on its website (and subsequent media reports) the Canadian Air & Space Museum in Toronto was evicted yesterday (Sept. 20) by its landlord. The Canadian Press reports that its location may become a hockey rink.
Museum chairman Ian McDougall says the landlord, Parc Downsview Park, was in the process of changing the locks on Tuesday afternoon.
McDougall says the museum was behind on its rent by about $120,000, but had begun generating more revenue and was in a position to begin making payments.
McDougall says the landlord didn't accept partial payment and ordered all back rent to be paid immediately or the museum would be closed.
The museum displayed the only full-scale replica of the Avro Arrow, which has an indirect connection to space history, but were there other significant space artifacts on exhibit?
The museum's website makes no mention of space items in its collection (though a model of a Bigelow space station, which had been on loan, was retrieved before the doors were locked).

Most of the exhibits at the Canadian Air & Space Museum are related to aviation history. The museum is located in the former De Havilland Aircraft of Canada manufacturing plant at Downsview Airport in Toronto. Volunteers work on vintage aircraft. Robert Godwin, who published the very impressive NASA Mission Reports book series, is a curator at the museum.
The Apollo 7 Command Module had been on display in Ottawa for several years before it was returned to the United States. I believe it is now at the Frontiers of Flight Museum in Dallas, Texas.

I always wanted to get back to my college town to see the Arrow replica. Early in my career I worked with a number of folks that worked on the Arrow and remember Black Friday well, looks like history does repeat itself. I hope the do not cut this one up though.
Apollo 7 was in Ottawa and is now in Dallas as stated.

A campaign has begun to save the Canadian Air & Space Museum. Those desiring to help have been asked to e-mail Rt Honorable Rona Ambrose, Minister of Public Works and Government Services.

I think an appropriate slogan for those trying to save the facility would be:
